Youth Olympic Games 2018

Discover the Games made several video and audio productions at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires. All for Dutch media. Everything we published and produced at this event is in Dutch. Including the stories we wrote for several editions of the newspaper Algemeen Dagblad and for sites of Omroep West en RTV Rijnmond.

For Omroep West we shot three videos of talented athletes with The Hague as there homebase: golfer Jerry Jie, beachvolleybalplayer Matthew Immers and basketballplayer Evelien Lutje Schipholt.

The video below is shot for RTV Rijnmond, the local broadcaster of greater Rotterdam. It's about the talented track & field athlete Alida van Daalen, who throws the discus. She's the daughter of former Olympian Jacqueline Goormachtigh, who als plays a role in our video:

For national radio we made a story about Enzo Kuworge, a very talented weightlifter who took a bronze medal at the Youth Olympics. Kuworge carried the flag at the opening ceremony and is predicted a bright future. We spoke him after his third place. The interview was aired in the morning show: NOS Radio 1 Journaal.

Click on the picture and listen to the story of 17-year old Enze Kuworge, the 'cuddly bear' of Talent Team NL. It's in Dutch...

And in the last days of the Youth Olympic Games the NOS aired an interview we had with the delegation leader of Talent Team NL, which is Mark Huizinga, former Olympic gold medalist in judo.

Besides the audio and the video we produced, we wrote several stories with the Dutch young and talented athletes. Some for (local) newspapers. Like the one on the left with Rowen van de Mheen, who took the silver medal at the jumping discipline in equestrian sports. Van de Mheen  - like every other competitor in Buenos Aires - rode on a borrowed horse.

Other stories we wrote for Algemeen Dagblad includes interviews with beachvolleybalplayers Yorick de Groot, Raisa Schoon and Emi van Driel. And beachhandballplayer Marit van Ede.

And for our own site we wrote a piece about the hockeyteam of Vanuatu and we ran into Crazy Legs, the legendary braekdancer of the Rock Steady Crew!

You can read them in our discoverblog.
